| Our Parrot Homes |
Some updates from the wonderful homes our baby parrots have gone to. |
Hi Lorrie,
I have been meaning to write to you for some time now. I have some great photos to send you. Ziggy is an absolute joy!!! He is such a clown. He loves to flap and play. I have him climb the stairs for exercise as well. He & Echo have become great friends and they both follow me everywhere. I can't thank you enough:)
Ziggy makes me smile every day. We love him very much.
Please feel free to give my name to anyone for a reference. Ziggy arrived here very well socialized and in great condition. It took him no time at all to adapt.
Thanks for contacting me.
Sincerely,
Alice & family |

I just wanted to let you know that I did receive Sweetie's play gym. She is doing just great. We are really having a lot of fun with her. I am amazed at what a little cuddle bug she is. She really likes a lot of attention and enjoys hand feeding. I like to hand feed all of my
animals.
Sweetie is also fully of mischief. The other day she was sitting on top of her cage and I was working in the kitchen. Things just seemed a little too quiet because she is usually mumbling away. I looked in on
her and no Sweetie. Well she got off of her cage and crawled her way under the sheet that I cover her cage with and she was all wrapped up in it having a real
merry old time. The look on her face when I picked up the cover was just priceless, caught red handed! She likes to hang out on my shoulder or arm. The other day I gave her a piece of pizza crust which she toyed
with for at least 15 minutes, totally in heaven. I'm definitely hooked!
She does a lot of mumbling and I talk to her constantly. Her bird buddy
Chippy also keeps her entertained with his antics and huge vocabulary. She likes to walk down the side of her cage and she already knows when the
dogs come upstairs I usually say to her "Here they come, get up on that cage" and she moves about as fast as she can to climb back up. The dogs are really good with her and she loves to tease them from the bottom of her cage. So as you can tell we are just having a ball. Thank you again for giving her such a great start to her life.

Hi Lorrie,
I'm replying from Tamarindo, Costa Rica, checking out Earl's possible future digs.
Earl is awesome, talking like crazy- I can't count all the things he says anymore... Andy Griffith theme, What was that? Dog barking in response to what does a dog say, same with cat cow, owl (very funny), quail and cardinal imitations to a tee... You've heard it all before but what amazing animals. In the process of training him to an old Richard Pryor routine for my former college roommates entertainment- the short phrase is "You crazy!"- he associated it with me and it unfortunately has become my name! When he wants me he yells "Crazy" at the top of his little lungs... Unfortunately he bonded totally to me although tolerates my wife. Hates my son who tries, but gets nowhere- maybe if he cleaned the cage it would help!!! Anyway, Earl gives all indications of being healthy and well-adjusted and we hope it goes on that way. Hope business is good and you've had all happy homes for your critters. Take care, Dave |
Hi Lorrie!
Forgive me for not writing sooner. But my work keeps me busier than I'd like. I wanted to let you know what a green bundle of joy Engelbird is for us.
After getting him clipped, school was in session! Now, he is stick-trained to step up and step down. He lets me touch him all over, and give him showers. I even taught him to wave hello, spread his wings on cue, hold a flag with one foot and play dead. Then, he also sits on a toy horse with wheels, holds the reins, while wearing a bandanna and cowboy hat. We're still working on him saying "giddyap."
But that will come. He's talking up a storm, mumbling god-knows-what, like practicing things he hears. He says "hello" clearly, as well as "Wuzzup?" And, much to our surprise, on Thanksgiving, when we had company over, he started laughing--just like my hubby. What a hoot he is! The other day he began saying "Merry Christmas." He's trying to say much more, and I know that given time, he'll talk a blue streak. He learns very quickly.
I know, I'm bragging on him, and I'm sure you hear lots of similar stories. But it's always nice to know the people you sell birds to are overjoyed with their birds.
Santa brought him a skateboard and ladder this year and some bird trick tapes. So, we've got our work cut out for us!
Sure hope all is going well for you and yours. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas. I'll give him a kiss on the beak for you.
Warmest regards,
Carole |
Hi Lorrie
I thought you might like to see how Gypsey is doing. He is an absolute darling and has an amazing character. He likes to be where ever I am including the shower. He also likes to go into the other birds cages to see what they have that he doesn't.
I hope you are all well.
Regards

| Just a short note to let you know Facet is doing great. She is so funny. She doesn't like me to put her away she will climb in her bed and pout and then look out like is she watching. If I pick up the tiel she flaps her wings and screams like put that bird down and pick me up. She is such a sweet bird. Theresa |
WOW !!! Ollie is even more beautiful in person. And what a personality. He has instantly warmed up to all of us ( must be jet lag, or hypoxia LOL ). Kudos to you and your family for raising such a well adapted youngster. We are just super amped and cannot wait to spend the day with him. Thank you again soooo much. We'll send pics tomorrow...We're gonna let Ollie relax. He's eating already and pooped also. We'll keep you posted. Talk to you soon.

Dear Lorrie:
On the eve of Max's hatch-day, we wanted to give you all an update and pass along some photos taken this morning.
Max is saying about a dozen words, and saying them in our three voices. It seems that every two or three days he has a new word or whistle or something. In addition to the words we can clearly understand, he "mumbles" bunches more (the ones he is practicing to say).
But more then his speaking, Max is a WONDERFUL CAG! He is really very loving with all of us. Our "never-stay-still" Severe Macaw has greatly influenced Max's personality and we now see him actually playing a lot more (last night we had everyone on the floor with large marbles and Max delighted in rolling the marbles across the wood floor and then jumping and hopping after them...that was very funny to watch). Of course, Max goes "nuts" playing with his toys in the cage and yells, screams, barks at them when they don't behave...
Max is just a joy! Thank you for all your critical work with him in those vital early months.
We hope all is well with you and your's. We love the new photos on your children with the Hy and Greenie...great photos.
Take care,
Always,
Chris, Maggie, Hannah and Max Ross

Hi Lorrie!
How are you?
I haven't written in so long I thought I better drop you a note. Phoenix is doing awesome! He is starting to come out of the beaky stage. He is now just being a big lover! He loves hugs and to lay on my shoulder. He also as a thing with turning upside down. I call him my 'big baby'. We just love him to pieces. He is saying hello & good boy. He also laughs. He is starting to wonder a bit but nothing major and we just simply return him to
his cage. I just wanted to let you know that he is doing great.

Hi Lorrie,
I hope this last year brought you health, peace and happiness.
Vito is doing great! When you identified him as a talker early on, little did you know. He is an incredible talker. He is constantly learning new sounds and words and is even learning how to use the words he learns. When he sees us pick up the car keys and head for the door, he shouts “see you later”. The other day I gave him a shower while his Mom was out. As soon as she walked in the door, he told her “clean bird”. He asks for his favorite foods by name, such as “yummy carrots”, “crackers”, “appo” which is of course apples.
He has favorite names for us and calls us by those names. His sister is “birdie” and when she walks in from school, he shouts “birdie, birdie”. When she’s not home he will say “where’s birdie?”. He will call for “Mama” and ask “where’s mama?” He calls me daddy and plays a kind of “hide-n-seek” with me. He occasionally calls his brother saying “gilbert” repeatedly.
He loves his house (I don’t call it a cage) and will climb in and out of it while we are here and keep the top open. He loves playing with blocks and chewing on the leather. His favorite game, though, is to throw the food from his metal bowl out and then clangs on the bowl to make repeated metallic sounds. Sometimes he sounds like a “steel band”.
He loves his Mom the best followed by his sister. Well he is a male, what do you expect? He tolerates his brother and me. He fills our life with much joy and laughter and we look forward to spending time with him every day. Like any other 2 year old child, he is messy, demands lots of attention and gives much pleasure!
Take care,
Gil |
